Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies

Audio Technologies
One older audio technology that could still be used in the classroom is audio cassettes. Some famous speeches or addresses might have have been saved on a audio cassette in their original form. For example, a teacher could have students listen to an original JFK speech or an original audio recording of the moon landing. However, this technology is very old and has been replaced by CD's. Audio CD's are able to hold much more information and have much better sound quality. Classical music masterpieces such as Wagner and Mozart would sound amazing on a CD sound system.

Visual Technology
One older visual technology that could still be used in the classroom is a VHS tape/recorder. Some older teachers may have recorded historical moments off of TV that could be very interesting and helpful to students in the classroom. Another technology that is newer than VHS but still offers the same benefits is DVD. Movies like Planet Earth are very informative and tend to capture the audiences attention quite well. This could be a valuable asset to any science class.

Response to Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom

Generally, I would be in favor of teaching in a class that offers multiple sources of technology in the classroom. technology allows for teachers to instruct students who may have different learning styles, giving each student a more individual experience. Technology also gives students the chance to use the internet which is a very valuable tool for everyone. Also, technology allows for better communication between teachers and students, and also for parents and teachers. Technology does have some disadvantages but in my mind the benefits out-weigh the negatives by a wide margin
